Event Description/

Let’s Autocross!

Time for the Autumn Haze AROC SEMI-annual AUTOCROSS #2

NOTE, THIS LISTING IS WRITTEN LIKE A SCHOOL, BUT IS NOT A SCHOOL, IT’S AN ACTUAL AROC/DCSCC AUTOCROSS

MORE DETAILS TO COME, INCLUDING ONLINE REGISTRATION/PAYMENT

And ‘Ground Pounders’ *

* Don’t know what an autocross is?

* Don’t know how to autocross?

* Never heard of autocrossing?

* Want to improve your skills from novice level?

>>> Then, come on out to the 2019 AROC Autocross at Schoolcraft Training Facility.

(Quick definition: Autocrossing is a non-racing, car control, driver’s skill event wherein the driver negotiates a serpentine ‘course’ defined by small poly traffic cones on a parking lot. Each vehicle is timed individually over the course, then times are compared to determine the quickest driver among a variety of classes)

The event will be conducted in a relaxed format, with ample opportunity to walk the course for evaluation.

IF YOU ARE NEW TO AUTOCROSSING, with prior arrangement, you will also have the opportunity to be coached by experienced autocrossers.

This event is open to safe drivers in safe cars. The idea is to learn and have fun while doing it. While these types of events are generally safe, our rules require helmets be worn which comply with Snell Foundation M, K, or SA 2005, 2010, 2015 rating (not simply DOT). Helmet must cover ears, shall not be damaged or visibly deteriorated. We have a few loaner helmets available. No open toed shoes, for obvious reasons. Wear comfortable clothing, appropriate for the weather, considering we will be standing in an open parking lot. This event runs rain or shine, so prepare appropriately.

In terms of car preparation, nothing special is required, whether your stock daily driver, or your street modified machine. Just be sure the tires are aired-up per the tire manufacturers top pressure, all loose objects are removed (including floor mats), and the battery is properly secured. Brakes (fluid at proper level), good tire condition, steering linkages, lugs secure, and seat belts, are among the safety checks performed at ‘tech inspection’. Mufflers—no excessive noise. Vehicles must be insured, current drivers license.

Everyone on site signs the Insurance Waiver

Entry Fee is as follows per driver:

Early registration Day of Event

AROC Member $25 $30

DCSCC Champ Members $30 $35

Everyone else $35 $40

Multi-driver cars welcome, fee is still per driver.

Bonus: Not interested in driving, but want to help? Autocrossing is a 100% volunteer staffed/organized motorsport.

We are offering the additional bonus of teaching interested persons how operate our computer timing system. Track help always needed ( affectionately called ‘cone chasers’), along with help setting up and tearing down the course. Come a bit early, stay a bit late: many hands make light work.
